Project Aims

The project aimed to familiarize students with equipment, techniques and terminology used in creative arts productions. The project also introduced students to the process of film production and music production with a view to helping them to develop practical skills which will further their understanding of the process of film-making and music production including showcasing. This project enabled students to develop project management, teamwork, time management and oral presentational skills

Reality History TV

Subjects Covered: History, English, Performing Arts

Topic: British History Reality TV Show

Project Description Students presented a researched scene in a style of a Reality TV. The project involved studying a notable British historical event, supporting documents, and historical figures of the time. Student reenacted the scene prior or after the event, through a news report style role play. Roles played by young people: Historical figures, ordinary people reactions, news reporters, camera man.

Camera Angles Investigating Real Life Applications of Math

Topic Learning about mathematical angles through media arts

Description

This project helped students to explore the concept of angles and their application in the process of video production. Students examined the dynamics of shooting a conversation between two people, and through this process learn how to apply mathematics to real life situations. Students learned the following mathematics related disciplines: Calculating lengths, areas and angles (Simple angle facts, Different types of angle, Parallel lines) Converting measurements, Discrete and continuous measurements. Students learned the following media related Media activities: Camera techniques & use of audio-visual equipment including camcorders and editing software.

The TM Project

The aim of the project was to produce music, dance and drama productions based on the theme making the right choices working with a group of 36 young people. The TM Project also included an end of project showcase at the Brook Theatre, shooting a music video and a three day residential.
